Problem

DirectCare needed to replace a fragile, high-friction intake process where incomplete fields, inconsistent formatting, and duplicate/partial submissions could slow operations and create rework for staff. Their growth model depends on fast, accurate patient onboarding, but manual follow-ups and integration gaps between intake, backend records, and care-platform workflows made scaling harder. They needed a system that could enforce data quality at the point of entry, minimize failure points, and ensure clean handoff into clinical processes.

Solution

We implemented a robust intake workflow with dynamic validations, required-field enforcement, and conditional logic based on patient responses, then connected it to backend and OpenLoop/Healthie services via Next.js API routes with token-refresh/error handling. We standardized payload transformation, added critical submission safeguards (including final validation checks). The result is a scalable, integration-ready intake foundation that improves data accuracy, operational speed, and overall onboarding consistency.
